Get inspired by the big Starck!

“Subversive, ethical, ecological, political, fun:
this is how I see my duty as a creator.”

Philippe Starck.

Im a huge fan of Philippe Starck – he does all the things that I really love about interior design! Lets get inspired by the big ones! These images are from Philippes Starcks design of MAMA shelter interior in bordeaux. He describes The schemes was intended to form sanctuaries from the outside world and establishing a relaxed atmosphere, which I think works to perfection!

I keep on talking about that interior design is not just about the room, but indeed about the frame – ALWAYS INCLUDE the walls, the ceiling, the floors in your styling! Get inspired by Starck he has done a stunning  job here – I especially love the deco of floor and ceiling, what do you think?

Check out the right image – do you recognize all the tips around the interior blogs? – Stacking books – Paint a wall,
make contrast – feel alive – Collect your images to create a piece of art – Include the floor – Mix old and new –  Mix materials

Cover up your walls and DREAM AWAY!

it makes your dream come true in a sec! (or at least make you fly away)

You can change your room into whatever setting you’d like to be – in the forest, on the beach, on the road, in a library, on the back of a tiger, in the jungle on the sea or in a birdcage! You name it – Ill find it!

The possibilities are endless, which made it quite a challenge to pick up some to show you! As usual I´ve picked some of the most unique ones and some more classic – industrial surprise!

Wanna color up your life – follow me!

This selection is from Mandrup Poulsen Tapeter and Photowall – check out http://www.mptapeter.dk and http://www.photowall.dk

Or, you can go all the way and get your own photo turned into a photowall – cool??! Imagine a huge family photo! Actually one of my favorite interior designers The Novogratz redecorated a kids rooms with a custom photography wallpaper. LIKE IT?

If you are more into calm colors, but still want it to be unique and sophisticated, check these ones out! To honor my beloved city Copenhagen and our local designer I´ve chosen to show you this piece of drawing art. The Danish life drawer, Kasper Købke has drawn the streets by hand – It has taken him 6 months, how do you like the result?

The sophisticated lady is launched in 2013, designed by Gio Pagani! He has made many awesome walldecos in this style – check out http://www.architonic.com/pmsht/my-body-wall-deco/1221145 . Architonic collects all newest designs and trends – go for a tour on their website -you´ll never come out!

For the room with THE VIEW, I find it funny and really cool! And if it works as well in real life, I think they’ve done a marvelous job!

Its no secret that I love the industrial look, and if you aren’t aloud to tear “your wall apart” (like me), the perfect option is right here! And I think it works really well! Of cause Ill always prefer the real deal, but if thats a no go, go for this!!

Take it out on your wall!

Today’s material – TILES!

The next couple of days, as promised, my focus will be on wall deco. Walls are a the frame of the interior playground but I believe the whole frame, whether walls, ceiling or floor should be included in the interior design to make a complete expression – you simply cant neglect the frame – there is no scene without a frame, its like a book with no words – so TAKE IT OUT ON YOUR WALL!

I love tiles – they add an edge to the room, a mix of materials, tiles, wallpaper, paint, wood etc. makes the room dynamic and alive! Personally my heart beats for the funkiest ones, but in the right mix – combined with plain surfaces, they become more modern and classic!

There are no limits in the use of tiles – we have passed the time where tiles only belong to the kitchen and the bathroom! Give your room a makeover – you don’t need to make a whole wall, just a couple of tiles will add an edge and bring it to life!

First, Ill show the famous artilles – I know its “old news”, but I still think they sticks!

I actually used artilles (from http://www.arttiles.dk) for a project at Saint Martins College of Art. The project was to design a bathroom for a couple living in the high end of London. Based on a description of their personal profiles, I decided to make a mixed-style bathroom with a funky but classic touch – my main colors were black, gold and petrol! Since the couple had met each other in London I wanted to include that fact in the interior design, to give it a personal touch without being a cliché! SO, stick to the wall – i drew a wall made by small black mosaic tiles and art tiles in petrol, black, white colors – the art tiles formed a skinny version of London Tower Bridge! Get inspired by something you love, something that makes you happy looking at and create your own personal wall art!

These ones are awesome and I haven’t seen them used anywhere in Denmark, thats a shame! I have a billion of ideas how to create the most funky bubble-room, but again if you mix materials and surfaces the bubble tiles can be quite classic as well – if you are into classic style go for clean surfaces, same color shades but different materials! Go bubblicious!

MORE FUNK! Can you imagine a whole wall of these – psychedelic maybe, but funk to perfection! These tiles are described

“Tiles of Playfulness Synergy of Light Colors, Impressionism and Tiles”!

If you can’t bare starring at your white tiles like me – go get some paint and make your own artwork! This one is made by Diva artworks http://www.divaartworks.com/Tiles.html , but why not do it yourself!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST! As much as I love the funky, crazy stuff I am totally amazed by gold and copper, and I can easily imagine myself in a room covered up in steel tiles – ITS SO CLASSY!!!!!!!

GO CRAZY ON YOUR WALLS – the next couple of days you’ll get more on wall deco, stay tuned and happy decorating!

A little more from the world of pallets!

Though I need a little break from pallets – everything is made of pallets – I must admit these DIY furnitures caught my eye! So, with this post, Ill leave the ´world of pallets´ and find a new path for a while!

´DIY Pallet Furniture´ http://diypalletfurniture.net makes the coolest and most creative stuff of pallets! I have selected some of my favorites…

  1. The COOLEST and CUTEST crib I have ever seen, who wouldn’t fall asleep in a moon-cage!!
  2. The bunk beds are awesome and perfect if you are in lack of space. Could be cool in the kids room or in your countryside house – mmm actually I would love it as a couch in my living room!
  3. Such a cool desk, again perfect if you lack space – I am crazy about the hooks! There are many options – personally I would add a painted thin wooden board instead of glass, maybe chalkboard painted or in a crazy colour! Another option is to use coloured plexiglass, maybe in neon for the funky and artsy look – you can get the plexi in www.jemogfix.dk, www.silvan.dk
  4. Book, photo whatever shelf, simple, rough and cool!
  5. Photo 5 to 8 are pallet-artwork – I love the roughness and the fact that you can make it exactly how you like it, add a personal touch by painting text, add colours, hang photos, lights… maybe flower boxes, you name it! The wall at photo no5 is made by www.genbyg.dk

Let me know, are you sick and tired of pallets or are you ´head over heals´?  … want more? Or whats your favorite material?

My beloved wall!

My huge crush on industrial DIY projects made me carry this extremely heavy ´store grid´home!

I was attacked by ideas and the first one that came to me – THIS has to hang upon my bed in the ceiling (since I love decorating ceilings), had to give up cause of the weight! But, I have now found a cheap and easy option, if any of you want a grid-ceiling – Ill post a ´how to do it´ here https://interiorwise.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=311&action=edit

SO, I chose another option! I needed a place to hang my bulbs, small art-things and private treasures and I wanted to collect them in to a whole piece of wall-deco that I can keep add-on with my treasures of the… mmm week!

This is how it end up! Cheap, simple and industrial. I know it was quite a luck that I found this original store-grid, but you can make a similar and cool one yourself – this way has even more possibilities! check it out on https://interiorwise.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=311&action=edit
