The Danish Metro – Its noisy, BUT its INTERIOR ART!

EVERYBODY HATES THE METRO CONSTRUCTIONSWORK IN COPENHAGEN – ITS NOISY, ITS TOO EXPENSIVE, THEY WORK TOO SLOW, ITS A NEVER ENDING STORY – BUT HEY!!!! ITS WICKED, ITS BEAUTIFUL, ITS ARWORK!!! Its actually a huge piece of canvas!!

They did in ancient Egypt, they´ve done in almost any churches, the kids are doing it, the Danish blogger Boligcious just had a post about it – why not use our walls as a piece of white canvas? Why not paint directly on the wall?

When I walked along the metro construction the other day I got really inspired by the street art – everything industrial is on the top of the list all over, so why not bring in the streets!

Maybe you are able to do it, unfortunately Im not, otherwise all my walls would be plastered in graffiti art – but maybe you know somebody? If not, many of the tattoo shops are actually packed with great graffiti artist, ask them! Or, if you want it a bit more classic go for the Artist and textile designer Anne Nowak – check her out at Boligcious.

5 STYLING TIPS FOR ALL BUDGETS!

HOW TO STYLE IN A SEC!! Its easy forward to transform your home if you have an abundance of money, but HEY the good news is – ITS NOT ABOUT MONEY, it all comes down to creativity, do what you feel like, think out of the box and keep in mind that everything is possible – you just need to get the right materials! That being said, the most important is that you DARE – forget all about DONT´s just do it

1. CLEAN UP

First thing to do is clean up! Get rid of all the stuff that you do not want, use or like anymore. Or even better SELL it! I come from a FLEE-family, we sell everything! And the funny thing is that people actually buy everything – and the more you sell the more money you have for your transformation. Who, knows you might find something yourself at the flee-market that will fit perfectly into your style!

2. WALLS

As said before; Walls are a the frame of the interior playground – there is no scene without a frame! Depending on your style and budget must haves are paint, wallpaper paste,  wallpaper/posters/photos. Its no secret that wallpaper can be quite pricy, same goes for paint if you want a durable quality. If your budget aint into that make your own personal wall – everything goes! The only thing you need to bare in mind is that you are going to look at and live with it (of cause you can change it whenever you like)! Go for stuff that you´d love to look at, I plastered my hall, all four walls with travelphotos. Print them on a good quality paper, maybe with a touch of patina and plaster them directly to the wall. Or, go for your favorite posters – place them close together or overlapping – let them cover the whole area or wall – white bits ruin the look. Another option is to frame the poster or photos with paint! If you aint into too much color, patterns or craziness collect all your photoframes and place them close together – make a decoration on the wall. I made a family tree in the bathroom by painting a huge tree with gold paint and places photos in small vintage frames on all the branches – A big DO is keeping them together – photos scattered around the walls looks messy and incomplete!

3. SPRAY PAINT

The best invention ever! Spraypaint can transform even the ugliest piece of furniture or interior accessory into whatever color you like. FIRST thing to do is go outside!! I´ve made this mistake several times because I get to eager to finish my projects, but spraypaint reaches everything and it doesn’t come off! For furnitures you should go for car-spraypaint it lasts forever and gives a cool shiny look. If you do furnitures dont forget to remove handles etc. at least if you dont want them to be the same color.

4. SHELF LINER

Again, shelf liner is the best invention if you want your project to be re-changeable! And if you want a material that is durable to a wet cloth. Shelf liners can be cut into any kind of art piece, so let out your creativity! Use it for shelves, tiles, tables.. you name it!

5. LIGHT

When it comes to coziness its all about light! Think about candles, cozy right? So, go for bunch of candles AND get rid of light bulbs with too many watts – replace them with incandescent bulb with less watt than 60 and let the coziness come to you!

“DEER” your surroundings! Bring nature in…

´Bring nature in´ trend is still going strong, everything comes in a deer-design, a bit too much, if Im aloud to say that – less is more, ALSO in the production of interior accessories! Cant think of anything worse but mass production (little exaggeration but true). Even though I´m VERY MUCH against hunting, killing animals and animal cruelty NO DOUBT about that – nevertheless I am amazed about original interior design accessories! So, not taking that fact into account for a moment, I think decorating by nature looks really awesome!

Depending on your ethical believes and attraction of interior design, you can choose the real deal or nice fake ones – if you want a pet on the wall! Choose a real stuffed one or maybe a nice graphic, this one is from vi.sualize.us.

But if you want the real deal you can either go hunting at flee markets, get to know a hunter or go hunt yourself! If you are interested in any of the real ones on this post, send me an email and let me know! The Sweet Spot has styled this look by use of deer and antlers, stunning or what?

And a small selection from the “interior-in-dust” – I am especially crazy about the wooden shelf, and it wouldn’t be a shame to paint it – depending on your style. If you are a bit handy, why not try it out as a DIY project – Im all up for it!

I must admit that I am not the biggest fan of “naked antlers”, but take a look at Gevir & Horn – I really like her redeco ideas – suddenly the naked antlers morbid appearance is transformed into a trendy interior accessory – in a color by your choice! Why not go on the wave of neon!!? (or if more into romance – go for pearls)

Up for a hunt?
