IN HONOR OF PH 120 YEARS!

IN HONOR OF PH!!

The iconic Danish designer Poul Henningsen would have turned 120 years on the 9 September this year! On that occasion Louis Poulsen has decided to launch a limit version of one of the first lamps in the PH system. The shade and socket of the lamp is made of copper and the middle and lower shade is hand-blown glass. The copper is unpainted which will add a marvelous the patina to the lamp over time.
This is really a unique lamp – pricy but a piece of art, its DKK 9000 – The lamp is sold only for a limited period: 1 March to 31 May 2014 and each lamp is produced by order, so deliver time can be up to 4 months! If I am lucky to get ´tax-money´I really will consider it – its not only an interior treasure its a hanging ´save up´an investment – who am I trying to convince 😉

You can still find Poul Henningsen original lamps around at auctions, in vintage shops and flee-markets!! Ill go hunting for them and let you know where to go 😉

HAPPY READING AND HAPPY DAY!

#2 YOUNG DANISH DESIGN – TREASURES

THIS IS THE #2 IN THE SERIAL OF YOUNG DANISH DESIGNERS!!

Anita Johansen – educated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. Her Graduation project and her first launching furniture – The Daybed, was highly acknowledge and recommended – it has a classic look and all the way superb details! Its an exploration of traditional furniture upholstery – Anita has taken upholstery to the next level, perfect suitable for modern life style with features, that makes it easy to change upholstery component.

Lately The Daybed by Anita Johansen is in Wallpapers report for Maison et Objet 2014!

With her colleague Laura Faurschou, Anita Johansen is one of the founders of Johansen Faurschou focus on the scandinavian approach to simplicity and functionality. The company works within the frame of traditional craftsmanship with an focus on today’s need for exhibiting and accessorizing our homes. Their ambitions is to create products with a simplistic appearance and an honest expression because the designers seek avoid unnecessary details.

In January this year Johansen and Faurschou joined the international furnishing show, imm cologne as part of the group danishdesign MAKERS who collective presented a collection of objects.

Johansen Faurschou was presented with their ´Blind Pendant´ and ´Frame Mirror´!

The ´Blind Pendant´ is designed around the idea of being able to generate both general and focused lighting. The pendant has a shade that can be raised and lowered on the cord, thereby increasing or decreasing the light’s intensity and span.

The ´Frame Mirror´has its reference to the classic barber mirror. The small tray shelf ads a function to the mirror and the mirror ads a dimention to the itemsyou display on the shelf.

I find Johansen Faurschou design really elegant, simple but still edgy – What do you think?

CHANDELIERS do no longer belong to the ceiling???

I have a huge passion for collecting ideas and inspiration in any kinds of settings around the world! Just
been to a cozy restaurant and bar called Portas do Sol in the heart
of Alfama in Lisbon. They really nailed some interior details, that I defintely want to do at home!

First of all they have a mixed style being industrial, modern and bohemian- It gives a cozy atmosphere and its defintely a recommendable place for food and drinks! Though my eyes got caught by a naked wooden wall that made it look unfinish, I was very amazed by this place! I am especially crazy about doing stuff upside down and use things in a way that they arent made for! Portas do Sol did it and I loved it – the chandeliers got down – hanging on a stand and it gave a cool, different and informal look with the light coming from bottom to top compared to top to bottom light sources. As soon as I come my 12 arm chandelier will end its days hanging from the ceiling! Cool or not, what do you think?
