Revival of aunties lamp!

In 2007 I lived in Saint Petersburg for a period and ever since Ive been thinking about this wonderful cafe. Everything was taken out of great aunties home, at least it looked like that. It wasn’t spectacular but the atmosphere was indeed spectacular and there was no doubt in my mind what created this wonderful warm and nice atmosphere – the lamps!  I have been looking everywhere to find the photo I took of the creation of lamps, but its gone… If I find it Ill show you, because the fun thing is, that what I saw back then and found really cool, attractive, interesting and irresistible interiorwise – thats what many designers do today!

I believe is so easy to create the same atmosphere yourself in your own home, all you need is to go hunt for aunties, grannies, great grannies and so on… or at the flee markets! Find some old lampshades and hang them closely together – thats whats going to happen in our new hall! Cant wait, but I experience that it aint that easy to find the really old lampshades – so if you know anyone, please let me know 😉 But, as said, the designers has also found their way back to auntie – though I prefer the old ones, these shades are really awesome too, don’t you think?? 🙂

And the most important the more the merrier!!
HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYBODY

… let me know if you know someone who know someone that wants to get rid of their old shades 😉

REPLICAS OR NOT? …

I have fallen in love with the Potence lamp by the designer, or as he regarded himself engineer, or “constructor” Jean Prouve!! I love the shape and the idea of the lamp being a great part of the room but not necessarily taking all the focus.

UNFORTUNATELY I haven’t got $1,870.00USD!!

But hey, isn’t that why we have all the cool Replika productions? I am not really a big fan of copies but if you really really REALLY can’t live without I think I could manage to forgive myself 😉 Check out these options, I think they´ve done their replica-work quite well!

Sunday concrete´n cozy!

INDUSTRIAL, CONCRETE BUT STILL COZY!? German GANTlights has made a serial of cool handmade and elegant concrete lighting options – GANTlights actually made concrete appear elegant!

With an inside of noble gold, the rough looking lamp softens and gives a pleasant warm light. These lamps can be used both separately and sampled – I´d love to get a couple in different shapes above my dining table! And check out the price, they are even affordable compared to similar hot shot designer lamps!

HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A NICE SUNDAY AND THE SUN IS SHINING AT YOU! 😉

SASSY AND HOT pendants – cheap´n cool option!

I have fallen deeply in love with the rough diamond pendant from the Australian Ben-Tovim Design and the (a bit) similar ones from Dutch JSPR design, but since they “belong together” – the entire look lies within having the different shapes and metals hanging in a cluster – I must be realistic, Ill never be able to save up 258 Euro (for one) or 1400 AUD AND maybe I really do not want to spend so much on lamps! But look, aren’t they cool?

So I decided to surf around and HEY look what I found!

The size is smaller but the price is much better, which means possibly a bigger cluster 😉

The two ones from Ellos is only DKK 279 and the one from Etsy DKK 697 a cheaper option, still cool, still class – interior design isn’t about price!!!

IN HONOR OF PH 120 YEARS!

IN HONOR OF PH!!

The iconic Danish designer Poul Henningsen would have turned 120 years on the 9 September this year! On that occasion Louis Poulsen has decided to launch a limit version of one of the first lamps in the PH system. The shade and socket of the lamp is made of copper and the middle and lower shade is hand-blown glass. The copper is unpainted which will add a marvelous the patina to the lamp over time.
This is really a unique lamp – pricy but a piece of art, its DKK 9000 – The lamp is sold only for a limited period: 1 March to 31 May 2014 and each lamp is produced by order, so deliver time can be up to 4 months! If I am lucky to get ´tax-money´I really will consider it – its not only an interior treasure its a hanging ´save up´an investment – who am I trying to convince 😉

You can still find Poul Henningsen original lamps around at auctions, in vintage shops and flee-markets!! Ill go hunting for them and let you know where to go 😉
