Granny revival – simple, sexy light!

(Dansk version nederst)

When I saw this lamp in a shop in Madrid, my first thought was – thats a fun combination! Hmm, cool or weird!?

I  couldnt really make up my mind at first;) AND thats what I love!

The best thing about design is when it surprises me, when the combination of materials just doesn’t fit in to my expectations and challenges my way of thinking how certain stuff “should” look like or which materials “usually” comes together – I often find design that doesn’t surprise me dead boring! This lamp from Spanish Liquenlav caught my eye and I think its simple, sexy and granny – AND thats an unusual combo right 😉

The design seems simple and easy to do yourself, don’t you think? I am thinking about doing something similar… AND, another little piece of cute interior accessory is the small lamps underneath, that you easy can do yourself … so simple, so cute, so much atmosphere 🙂

HUGS FROM COPENHAGEN ❤

Ligthen me up!

(Dansk version nederst)

I am addicted to ligths… It still makes me smile when I think about my endless walks at Nevskij Prospekt in Saint Petersburg – all the lights made me so relaxed and I just enjoyed BEING… or Times Square in New York a symphony of lights, simply love it! I love making my own lamps! And tonight I wanna show you some lamps that inspires me to get on with new DIY light projects. I have found my inspiration in cafes, streets, shops… the inspiration is everywhere!!

This SNOWBALL is made of plastic cups, it gives a really cozy light and a contemporary style!

This DIY lamp construction is really easy to make – all you need is a frame, a grid and as many bulbs and whisks as you like! Its so elegant and I have always loved the idea of placing frames in the ceiling instead of on the walls!

Jeg er afhængig af lys!! …

HAPPY DIY PROJECTS!!!
Have a lovely Sunday night 🙂

Paint is magic!!!

Easter in Copenhagen has been awesome, sunny, warm and very relaxed! Every spring when I see just a tiny little sunbeam it makes me wanna paint everything in bright and funny colors – this spring no exception! For the first time in my life I have my own balcony, I am really excited about it and want to make is as cozy as possible but right now I haven’t got the money to do shameless shopping! But lucky me, when I went to my grandparents they had an old bench that they were going to throw out – but I saw potential and NOW it has a future at my balcony! What do you think, cozy or  crazy? 😉

BEFORE!

AFTER!

All you need is to clean and grind it before painting – choose a good paint, that can resist the weather!

FOR THE DANES…

HAPPY SUNDAY TO ALL OF YOU!

DIY INDUSTRIAL CHANDELIER!

ITS EASTER AND I HAVE BEEN AWAY FOR SOME DAYS… that being said, I haven’t let down all my homey-projects, actually I´ve been figuring out what to do with the light in my kitchen.

I´ve had this beautiful 12-arms antique chandelier in my kitchen, and oh yes I loved it when I bought it and I still do, it just doesn’t fit anymore – it disturbs my eye 😉 So I decided that I wanted to make a new chandelier this Easter – it had to be industrial and real low budget! This is what happened…

I went to my grandparents house and exactly as I was assuming my granddad had a spare iron pipe in his shed! I would have loved a copper pipe, but they are a bit more pricy and I did not have the patience to wait for the construction-store to open. Thank god for spray paint! Next step was to make a hole in each end of the pipe and attach the chains. All I needed now was a light chain, and I found this cool and rough one in a Swedish shop for only 450SEK, check out GRANIT shop. I am really excited about the result, how do you like it? 🙂

And for the Danes..

HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!

IKEA a great place for interior-hacking!

ARE YOU AN IKEA HACKER LIKE ME?

I wanted a table for my living room but couldn’t really find any – they were either mass produced or victim to designer exploitation (if there happens to exist a word like this 😉 ) So, I went to IKEA and survived the massive traffic and the sight of mass-production, but… of cause there is a BUT, IKEA actually has many basic product, cheap and perfect for DIY projects! My table included… I found this IKEA VITTSJÖ table, actually two-in-one table for DKK 369!  Since I can’t really stand glass tables I thought that the main thing for my project would be the black metallic frame.

My idea was to create a simple, light looking table with room for magazines and small annoying things. I also wanted a mat-look would could turn-out looking used – here comes the chalkboard paint that I just can’t get enough of 😉

How do you like the result!?

ANY IDEAS FOR COOL DIY PROJECTS – LET ME KNOW!! 🙂

… and happy Wednesday
