DIY INDUSTRIAL CHANDELIER!

ITS EASTER AND I HAVE BEEN AWAY FOR SOME DAYS… that being said, I haven’t let down all my homey-projects, actually I´ve been figuring out what to do with the light in my kitchen.

I´ve had this beautiful 12-arms antique chandelier in my kitchen, and oh yes I loved it when I bought it and I still do, it just doesn’t fit anymore – it disturbs my eye 😉 So I decided that I wanted to make a new chandelier this Easter – it had to be industrial and real low budget! This is what happened…

I went to my grandparents house and exactly as I was assuming my granddad had a spare iron pipe in his shed! I would have loved a copper pipe, but they are a bit more pricy and I did not have the patience to wait for the construction-store to open. Thank god for spray paint! Next step was to make a hole in each end of the pipe and attach the chains. All I needed now was a light chain, and I found this cool and rough one in a Swedish shop for only 450SEK, check out GRANIT shop. I am really excited about the result, how do you like it? 🙂

And for the Danes..

HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!

DONT FORGET THE COOL GIVE AWAY ENDS ON MONDAY THE 21TH!

The Danish artist Julsgaard nails it!!!

The Danish artist Christina Julsgaard hit my heart, and I must say, that ain´t easy at least painting-wise 😉 But the colorful paintings by Christina just speak to me in a way that paintings very rarely do! Christina manage to express feelings, experiences and dreams into a visual world of colorful abstractions.

Christina Julsgaard has an interesting background as a fashion designer. Her career started already when she was 20, working for a Danish design company leading her to become the founder of her own fashion label YIIP Copenhagen. Her designs are minimalistic and clear in expression, NOT being said, that the interpretation is manyfold and endless! That exactly what I really love about her – so clear but still a never-ending  search in the world of colors, feelings and thoughts!

I can’t express it better than… Ole Lindboe, editor of the magazine Art, does at Christina Julsgaards website – SHE HAS AN INDESCRIBABLE ABILITY TO HIT A MOOD!

How do you like it??

Christina Julsgaard was among the 102 Danish artists chosen to decorate an elephant sculpture for the Elephant Parade, a cultural event, which adorned the streets of Copenhagen in aid of saving the Asian elephants. And more to the East Christina had a solo exhibition at a gallery in Shanghai, which she now regularly collaborates with a joint exhibition in Hong Kong and a gallery in the Netherlands.

If you want to see her paintings in real life, Berlin is the place in spring 2014. Keep an eye on her webpage, from where you can also buy her artwork and a range of other cool stuff like artsy iphonecovers, t-shirts, scarfs, posters keychains!

Thanks to Christina for letting me share her artwork with you! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do! 🙂

IKEA a great place for interior-hacking!

ARE YOU AN IKEA HACKER LIKE ME?

I wanted a table for my living room but couldn’t really find any – they were either mass produced or victim to designer exploitation (if there happens to exist a word like this 😉 ) So, I went to IKEA and survived the massive traffic and the sight of mass-production, but… of cause there is a BUT, IKEA actually has many basic product, cheap and perfect for DIY projects! My table included… I found this IKEA VITTSJÖ table, actually two-in-one table for DKK 369!  Since I can’t really stand glass tables I thought that the main thing for my project would be the black metallic frame.

My idea was to create a simple, light looking table with room for magazines and small annoying things. I also wanted a mat-look would could turn-out looking used – here comes the chalkboard paint that I just can’t get enough of 😉

How do you like the result!?

ANY IDEAS FOR COOL DIY PROJECTS – LET ME KNOW!! 🙂

… and happy Wednesday

TIME FOR WISE-INTERIOR! The look of todays hospitals…

ITS TIME FOR WISE-INTERIOR! I´ve said it before and I say it again, Ill never get to understand why hospitals have to be SO WHITE, so NOT stimulating and SO boring – if you aren’t sick you might be after looking into a white wall or a white ceiling for just so long… BUT there is still hope 😉

Earlier I´ve showed you how the Danish artist Paul Gernes, back in the 70´s, decorated Herlev Hospital in the most colorful, stimulating and healing wall art – aware of some people found Paul Gernes art a bit over the edge for a hospital! The hospital in Glostrup, Denmark, has also done a great effort to create a warm and nice atmosphere for their patient. How do you find these rooms?

I find the walls very calm, light and warm, but Im afraid there is a BUT cause I still really miss coherence  – it seems like the artist has only concentrated on the walls – what about the floors NOT to mention the ceiling?? I mean the majority of patient in a hospital are lying in a bed with a view to the ceiling! Hmm, and what happened – did they forget all about the bathroom???

SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES, HOW IS IT DONE AT YOURS????

Sunday concrete´n cozy!

INDUSTRIAL, CONCRETE BUT STILL COZY!? German GANTlights has made a serial of cool handmade and elegant concrete lighting options – GANTlights actually made concrete appear elegant!

With an inside of noble gold, the rough looking lamp softens and gives a pleasant warm light. These lamps can be used both separately and sampled – I´d love to get a couple in different shapes above my dining table! And check out the price, they are even affordable compared to similar hot shot designer lamps!

HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A NICE SUNDAY AND THE SUN IS SHINING AT YOU! 😉
